Preparation for safety construction survey

Before safety construction survey, followings to be checked:

bullet Structural strength of the vessel is good. No part of deck or hull is not badly corroded.
bullet Water tight doors are in good condition. Remote and local controls working properly.
bullet Bilge pumping and drainage arrangements are in good condition.
bullet Electrical equipment and installation
bullet Emergency sources of electrical power
bullet Electric and electro hydraulic steering gears
bullet Precaution against shock, fire and other hazards of electrical origin
bullet Fire protection arrangements, fixed and portable fire fighting equipment are well maintained and in good operational condition.
bullet Boilers and machinery
bullet Means of going astern
bullet Shaft
bullet Boiler feed system in good condition.
bullet Steam pipe systems in good condition.
bullet Air pressure systems are in good condition.
bullet Cooling water systems are in good condition.
bullet Fuel, lubricating and other oil systems are in good condition.
bullet Means of communications are in good condition.
bullet Steering gear
bullet Anchor chain and cables
bullet Means of escapes are well maintained and in good condition.
bullet Means of stopping machinery
bullet Shutting off fuel suction pipes
bullet Closing of openings
bullet For specialized tankers and UMS ships, additional items.
