A MOTHER'S DAY MESSAGE FROM DUNT CHRYSLER, CEO
As many of you know, my father abandoned us when I was little. My mother and I were left to fend for ourselves. But while my father gave up on me, my mother didn't. Not ever. She
worked hard to buy food. She worked hard to pay the rent. She dedicated her life to sparing me the pain of hunger, protecting me from the cruelty of the natural environment. She comforted me when I felt lonely. She encouraged me when I failed. She
believed in me.
She took care of me when I was sick. When I was sick and everything hurt and I wanted the pain to stop so badly that I just wanted to die. In those moments, it was like my pain was her
own - like she would give her life to stop my suffering.
My mother died before I started my first
business. She died before I had made enough to allow her to retire, to shelter her from the brutality of the market as she did for me when I was a child. This inscrutable, infuriating God, in all His infinite wisdom and love, forced on her a life of constant
hardship. He worked her until her fingers bled, until her back ached, until the sleep deprivation brought her to tears.
This God is a fickle one. He will grant you
gifts and then take them away. He will bring you prosperity and He will kill everyone you love. He will love you, He will save you, and He will drag you through fire and brimstone just to see what you're made of.
One year, I picked flowers for her on my walk home from
school. She smiled, the hollows under her eyes dark from working a double shift. She hugged me, tightly, and told me she loved me. I hugged her back and told her that I loved her, too. My only regret in life is not telling her that more often.
We here at Protein Monster wish you all a happy Mother's Day.
