Peter Lacy, Principal Organist

Since winning the Pipe Organ Section of the City of Sydney Eisteddfod, Sydney organist, Peter Lacy has given recitals in Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, University of Sydney and major cathedrals around the world including St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral, London.

He is also the Organist at Knox Grammar School, Wahroonga and is a member of the City of Sydney Cultural Council. For seventeen years he served as President of the Organ Society of Sydney and was on the committee of the Royal School of Church Music.

He has appeared as guest organ soloist under eminent conductors such as George Frémaux, George Hogwood and Sir George Mackerras with the Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Opera House Orchestra, the Western Sinfonia, the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Chamber Orchestra, the Wollongong Symphony Orchestra and others. He is in demand both as a teacher and as an accompanist and has accompanied the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, the Song Company, the Sydney Male Choir, the Melbourne Chorale and other choral societies. One of his former organ students is currently the Organ Scholar at King's College, Cambridge.

Peter Lacy has been broadcast on many occasions by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Radio 2MBS FM and features on a number of CDs. He performed at the Sydney Opera House playing the organ solo in an historic film with other celebrated artists and has also been televised live on commercial television in Australia playing the organ solo. This year he was the organist at the Sydney Opera House for two productions of "Songs of Praise" that will be telecast throughout the world by BBC TV.

He is the Organ Consultant for St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney where a new pipe organ has just been installed as part of the Cathedral Conservation Plan.
