Dunt Chrysler: Excerpts from The Rolling Stone Interview
What remains of the first 'Rolling Stone' interview with the embattled CEO
What is the philosophy behind Protein Monster?
The philosophy behind Protein Monster—and I'm glad you said that, because there is a real philosophy behind it—but the philosophy is—and oh, look at this cat trying to get on. [Laughter]
And we have a guest—Jared can you—thanks. [Laughter]
The little rascal. [Laughter]
You've said, and I'm quoting here, "I know what it's like to be black. I know what it's like to be gay. I know what it's like to live on the streets, to be turning tricks for money." What did you mean by that?
Well, it's really—it's simple. I have spent so much time talking to many wonderful people—African-Americans, gays, you name it—and I've heard so many stories from them. They are all doing so great.

Really—really just going at it, isn't he? [Laughter]
I'm sorry, can we—[indecipherable]

What is your favorite shape?
I'd have to say there's nothing better than a beautiful perfect circle.
Your favorite color?
Red. Definitely red.
And you've of course said this in the past—you've been pretty consistent about this.
Yes. But of course the interesting thing is I don't like circles that are red—
That's right.
But—
But generally—I'm sorry, go ahead.
No, no, it's perfectly alright. But in general, red is the favorite, the circles being the exception rather than the rule.

Bill Gates said that Protein Monster represents "the single most important innovation in how we use the web" of the past twenty years. Newt Gingrich called it "abhorrent," and "a threat to national security." Who's right?
[Laughter] I'd have to say the truth in somewhere in the middle.
[Laughter]
The way I see it is, we're doing something very simple. We're taking something that already existed—but we're changing it a bit.
Right.
We're taking it and we're just doing something different. It's—parts of it aren't new at all.
Right.
Parts of it are very new. And that's, when you get right down to it, that's what we're doing.
But some of your funders have been tied to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
Well, that's—
The New York Times reported—
Jim, can we cut for a second?
Well—[indecipherable]
